Huffy Bicycle Recall (10/16/07) Pot Pies Recalled after Salmonella Problems (10/12/07) Sam's Club Beef Patty Recall (10/6/07) Huffy Bicycle Recall (10/16/07): About 22,000 Huffy 2007 "Howler" and "Highland" bicycles, manufactured in China and distributed by Huffy Corp., because the bicycle crank can come off and cause the rider to lose control or fall. The company has received two reports of cranks coming off, one resulting in an injury. Details: by phone at 888-366-3828; at http//www.huffybikes.com on the Web About 5,700 Oro disc brakes for bicycles, manufactured in Italy and imported by Perigeum Development Inc., doing business as Formula Brake USA. The brakes are recalled because the hand lever can separate, causing the brake to fail. The company has received six reports of hand levers detaching, but no reports of injuries. Details: by phone at 866-458-3130; at http//www.formulabrakeusa.com Pot Pies Recalled after Salmonella Problems (10/12/07): Problems with pot pies result in another recall. Conagra Foods Company is voluntarily recalling all varieties of Banquet Pot Pies. The recall comes after at least 165 cases of salmonella in 31 states were linked to the pot pies. The pot pies are also sold under store brand names: >Albertson's >Hill Country Fare >Food Lion >Great Value >Kirkwood >Kroger >Western family. Conagra says the pies should be thrown away and is offering refunds. Tuesday, conagra and asked stores nationwide to stop selling the poultry pot pies, but stopped short of a recall until Thursday evening. The recall includes the beef pot pies as well. *Consumers who want a refund for their pot pie should send the side panel of the package that contains the "P-9" location code to the following address: ConAgra Foods, Dept. BQPP, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103-0768. Consumers with questions can call the company toll free at (866) 484-8671. Sam's Club Beef Patty Recall (10/6/07) Another meat recall. This time it involves the Sam's Club warehouse chain, which is pulling a brand of ground beef produced by Cargill. Four Minnesota children who ate the meat between September 10th and September 20th were sickened by E. coli. Two of the youngsters were hospitalized. One has since been released but the other is still in the hospital. The meat was sold under the name American Chef's Selection Angus Beef Patties. Cargill is asking customers to return or destroy any of it purchased after August 26th. Sam's Club has voluntarily removed the product from store shelves nationwide. |
