Sign up for eScrip, and Earn “Free Money” for Lamorinda Schools!

Did you know that if all ~540 LMC member families were registered on eScrip, we could collectively contribute over $27,000 to Lamorinda elementary schools this year?

It’s true. And we hope that as many of you as possible will take three minutes this month to register for eScrip - even if you only have a newborn at home.

eScrip is a free and easy fundraising program that allows schools to raise money  through purchases made at eScrip merchants like Safeway, Diablo Foods, Whole Foods, Macy’s, and over 700 online merchants. When you register your credit, ATM, and membership cards with eScrip, a percentage of the money you spend with those merchants is automatically sent to the organization of your choice.

While most Lamorinda families with school-age kids are registered, only a small percentage of LMC families - those with younger children - are aware of the program and its positive contributions to our community.

Why register for eScrip?
Lamorinda’s public schools receive among the lowest funding in the state, yet consistently rank among the top in the state for academic achievement. That’s because community funding - including eScrip, parents’ club fundraising activities, the educational foundations of each city, and our local parcel taxes - contributes up to 30% of school operating budgets, enabling our schools to offer superior programs to our children. We all benefit when our kids receive an outstanding education.

How important is eScrip to your local school?
Every school is different, but at Del Rey Elementary in Orinda (270 families), eScrip merchants contributed over $20,000 last year. Safeway alone contributed over $18,000 of that amount. eScrip was the school’s third largest fundraiser—but didn’t require parents or other community members to open their checkbooks. They simply shopped with participating eScrip merchants as they normally would, and those merchants gave a percentage of their purchases to their designated school.

eScrip becomes even more important as our children grow older: Orinda Intermediate School raised $30,000 from eScrip last year, and Miramonte High School raised nearly $100,000. Results were similar in Moraga and Lafayette - with eScrip making large contributions to all public schools in our area.

Why register now?
Your contributions help the elementary school your child will enter in a few years. If you register before your child’s first birthday, $200-400+ in donations may be made to your child’s school by the time your child enters kindergarten.

Not signing up is like leaving money on the table.

You’ll be asked to sign up when your child enters kindergarten (all Lamorinda public schools ask families to register, since eScrip is such an important part of the school’s budget), so there’s no reason to wait.

It’s fast, easy, and will give you that warm fuzzy feeling!

Sign up by following three simple steps:
Step 1 – Log onto www.escrip.com. Enter your name, address, phone, email address and 11-digit Safeway Club Card Number and/or other credit/debit/ATM/or Macy’s card numbers used in your household. Don’t forget your spouse’s cards! Forgot your Safeway card number? Call Safeway at 1-877-723-3929 and give them your phone number; they’ll give you your card number.

Step 2 –Choose which school you want to receive your donations by entering the group Name or ID for your children’s elementary school. See the Lamorinda Elementary School Group IDs to the left. If you live outside Lamorinda, are considering private school, or want to contribute to another organization (your preschool, church or synagogue, scout troop, etc.), search www.escrip.com for eScrip-supported organizations in your city. You can donate to as many as three different organizations.

Step 3 - Shop as you normally would at participating eScrip merchants, like Safeway. Each time you use your registered card a percentage of your purchase will be donated by the participating merchant to your school of choice. Safeway is eScrip’s largest donor to Lamorinda schools.

What if I can’t find my Safeway Club Card?
If you can’t locate your Safeway Club Card, call Safeway at 1-877-723-3929. After verification of your phone number, Safeway will give you your 11-digit Club Card number. It only takes a minute!

Why and how do I renew my Safeway Club Card on escrip.com every year?
If you registered your Safeway Club Card before August 1st of the prior year, you must renew your commitment on escrip.com.  You must renew by November 1st or Safeway will stop their donations to your school of choice.

If you registered before August 1st of the prior year, please click here to RENEW Safeway Club Card NOW. Enter your phone number, email address or Safeway Club Card number. Click “enter” and then eScrip will show “Your renewal has been accepted.”

If you don’t see a RENEW message, your card does not need to be renewed.

What if I don’t shop at Safeway?
Never fear—most grocery stories in our area are part of eScrip. Simply register your credit, debit, and ATM cards, and shop as normal. To find a list of all participating eScrip Merchants in Northern California, please click here FOR LIST OF eSCRIP MERCHANTS and then click on the 'family of merchants' sub menu.

Can my friends and relatives help?
Yes. This is a nationwide program, so you can ask your family and friends to register their cards and support Lamorinda schools.

If I decide to register my credit and debit/ATM cards, is my information secure with eScrip?

Yes. Here’s how eScrip answers: “Protecting your personal information is a top priority at ESI. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. The transfer of confidential information such as credit card numbers and financial data are communicated via state of-the-art encryption. ESI’s Web server and database reside behind a firewall in a secure datacenter with fault tolerance, offsite backup and firewall protection. ESI maintains a multi-tiered system with no direct access to the database.”

What if I’m already registered with eScrip and supporting another organization (preschool, church, etc.)?
eScrip allows you to support up to three organizations. The donations are divided evenly among the three groups. If you would like to update your account to include a Lamorinda school, please click here TO UPDATE MY eSCRIP ACCOUNT.
