October 12th, 2007 - J.C. Penney is recalling more than 70,000 children’s items because they contain dangerously high levels of lead. The retailer was just one of several companies recalling dangerous toys made with lead paint yesterday, and the latest in a long line of other retailers and manufacturers to take such action this year.

Oct 11, 2007 - Kids' cold medicines are being yanked from shelves, after the government warns they may be hurting your child.
This action comes less than two weeks after the government warned parents about potential health risks to infants who take cold medicine.

Starbucks is recalling 250,000 children's cups after the company received two reports of children choking on broken pieces, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Tuesday.
Starbucks is offering a free beverage, or a refund, for returned cups.

Cub Scouts across the country are being asked to hand in some of their badges after the Boy Scouts of America announced today that more than a million of the Chinese-made items contain potentially hazardous levels of lead paint.

October 5th -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recalls of more than half a million items on Thursday, ranging from flashlights and key chains to toy blocks and drink tumblers.

All of you are aware by now, of the major toy recalls from top toy giants Fisher Price/Mattel and RC2 Corporation, the makers of The Thomas and Friends railway line. Nearly one million toys have been recalled over the last three summer months. This massive recall has again brought up the subject of lead poisoning, so I am going to cover the important information.

Sept. 28 -- Evenflo Company, Inc., is announcing a voluntary recall for certain models of the Triumph(R) convertible child restraint made between September 6, 2001 and October 31, 2005. Evenflo discovered that portions of the cloth cover can be pulled back exposing the foam liner in an area that is reachable by a child occupant. A child inside the seat may break off and potentially choke on a piece of the foam liner. This recall does not include any Triumph models made on or after November 1, 2005 as these products have a different design.

Sept 27, 2007 -- Baby supply company Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. is recalling more than 425,000 play yards after a 10-month old boy was strangled, a government safety agency announced Thursday.

Sept. 26, 2007 -- Time to check the kids' toy box again. More than half a million additional toys today were recalled due to lead paint.
Lead poisoning can permanently harm children, but it typically doesn't happen overnight. No injuries have been reported in the latest round of toy recalls, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
As with the many other toy recalls issued this year, the CPSC advises people to take the recalled toys away from children immediately.
